The Flash Gordon (2007 series) pilot aired Friday, August 10th on the Sci-Fi channel.  For those wondering, the show is set in modern time.  Gina does a great job as Dale Arden, but the show's cheesy special effects may leave some audience members wanting more.  The characters are also rather cliche so far.

All of the original Flash Gordon characters have been rewritten in an attempt to appeal to the modern audience and match the more modern story line.

The show's strong suit is good casting.  All of the actors and performances match the characters very well.

I really don't know if Flash Gordon will keep airing in the U.S. because it's hard for me to imagine the show finding a target audience in the U.S.  You'll have to catch an episode to see what I mean.  However, here's hoping the show will improve and do something new and unique now that they've established the character and the Flash Gordon world.

Gina Holden is fairly short, and I thought they'd shoot Gina to appear a bit taller, but they didn't.  She looks very tiny on screen next to Flash.  Still, Gina's charisma shines through, making Dale a likeable character.
